What’s really going on.
Who’s really behind the Kenosha Casino?
Although the Menominee Tribe of Wisconsin is applying for the off-reservation casino, the Mohegan Indian tribe from Connecticut is funding and managing the proposed Kenosha, WI casino. The Mohegan are located 1,000 miles from the site of the proposed casino. Recently, the Mohegan increased their financial stake in the casino by buying out their former partner in the project, Dennis Troha.
Where will the profits go?
Indian gaming in Wisconsin is supposed to benefit Wisconsin, not out-of-state interests. If the proposed Kenosha casino is approved, the Mohegan tribe of Connecticut will receive tens of millions of dollars annually. Profits from Indian gaming should stay in Wisconsin for our benefit.
What does this mean for Milwaukee?
If the Mohegan tribe from Connecticut is able to build their $808 million casino in Kenosha, Milwaukee stands to lose millions of dollars annually in tourism. As a result, industries that rely heavily on tourism could be forced to reduce their workforce. Milwaukee may lose thousands of jobs if the casino is built in Kenosha.
